In today’s lesson we are doing part 2 to the two-handed diamond tapping lesson. This lesson is perfect for working on your finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination and improving yourself overall as a bass player. If you haven’t checked out the first lesson, you can check it out here.
I love these exercises because they create a cool pattern (a diamond shape) on your fretboard while also utilizing a sort-of minor 7th progression. This type of exercise, depending on the type of the music that you are playing, could be cool to incorporate into a song.
Dotted Fret Exercise 1 – These exercises we are utilizing the root notes on the E string.
1a. g – b♭ – f – d – g – d – f – b♭ – g
1b. a – c – g – e – a
1c. b – d – a – f♯ – b
1d. c♯ – e – b – g♯ – c♯
1e. e – g – d – b – e
1f. a – c – g – e – a (octave higher)
1g. b – d – a – f♯ – b (octave higher)
Dotted Fret Exercise 2 – These exercises we are utilizing the root notes on the A string.
2a. c – e♭ – b♭ – g – c
2b. d – f – c – a – d
2c. e – g – d – b – e
2d. f# – a – e – c# – f#
