This is by far the easiest scale you will ever learn! The chromatic scale is simply a 12 note scale composed of all half steps. Simple right! It is not a part of the major or minor scale but rather its own unique scale.
D – D#/Eb – E – F – F#/Gb – G – G#/Ab – A – A#/Bb – B – C – C#/Db
Gb/F# – G – Ab/G# – A – Bb/A# – B – C – Db/C# – D – Eb/D# – E – F – Gb/F# – G
CHROMATIC FILL:
This scale is not commonly seen in its entirety throughout songs. Rather, you will see chromatic fills more. Chromatic fills are parts of a song where you can add in a note or two that is not within that scale.
A song like South of Heaven by Slayer, is a song that is mostly a minor pentatonic song incorporates chromatic fills with the minor pentatonic structure. You will find that a lot of thrash and heavy metal music will incorporate this scale and these fills.
I hope this lesson helped you, let me know your favorite thrash metal song in the comments below!
