6 EASY Songs for Bass Guitar

So you’ve been playing bass for awhile and you are ready to learn some songs. It is important to remember that not every song is the same. I picked six songs that note wise are very simple but some may be faster than others. Chop Suey is played very fast so take your time!

Practice and if you need to slow a song down do it and play along with it.

Danzig – Mother

This is the lead track off the debut album Danzig released in August 1988.  This song did not become popular until around 1993 when a remixed version of the song titled “Mother ‘93” came out and took over the airways.

Beats per minute (BPM): 148

Key Signature: b minor

Time Signature: 4/4

Godsmack – Time Bomb

This track is one their title album Godsmack released in 1998.

Beats per minute: 92 BPM

Key Signature: D Major

Time Signature: 4/4

Black Label Society – Stillborn

The Blessed Hellride is the fourth studio album from Black Label Society. This song is the title track and probably the most recognizable from them. Ozzy Osbourne appears in the song in the chorus.

Beats per minute: 107 BPM (Andante)

Key Signature: f minor

Time Signature: 4/4

System of a Down – Chop Suey

This song is off their second studio album Toxicity released on September 4th, 2001. This song peaked at #76 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Beats per minute: 128 BPM

Key Signature: g minor

Time Signature: 4/4

Quiet Riot – Metal Health (Bang Your Head)

This song is off their third studio album Metal Health released March 11th, 1983. This album was the first heavy metal album to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200.

Beats per minute: 123 BPM

Key Signature: b minor

Time Signature: 4/4

Black Sabbath – Paranoid

This is from their second album Paranoid released September 1970 through Vertigo Records. This is probably their most famous album and one of the greatest albums of all time.

Beats per minute: 163 BPM

Key Signature: e minor

Time Signature: 4/4

Obviously there are thousands of other easy bass songs to learn. These are six ones that you can start off with and then progress from there. Out of all these songs which one is your favorite?
