What’s going on basschicks and bassdudes!
I am coming at you today with a new type of lesson. I recently did a cover of The Red by Chevelle, which you can check out here.
I absolutely love this song and the emotion that is gives off and conveys. But another reason I love this song is because of simple it is. Rhythm wise it is a little tricky but with practice you can certainly get it down.
Here is an overview of the song:
Song Difficulty: Easy
BPM: 70
Key Signature: c# minor
Time Signature: 6/8
Tuning*: 1 1/2 steps down (C# – F# – B – E)
*The version I play and is shown below is in standard tuning.
Disclaimer: In the video, my hands aren’t always lining up but I can assure you that I am playing. I have a new camera and it can be a little wonky at times so just keep that in mind when watching it.
Intro: This is played with guitar only
Verse 1:
We are repeating the same two measures six times. The first measure of the song is the basis for the entire song. It does change up a bit as we head into the chorus but the pre-verse, guitar solo/bridge, and end of the song use these two measures.
I hope you enjoyed this lesson. If you have any suggestions as to make these types of lessons easier for you to understand let me know!
